  • How does LiceMD® work?
    • LiceMD® is a patented, pediatrician tested, and clinically proven head lice treatment that uses a physical mode of action vs. a chemical one to eliminate lice, eggs and nits. The liquid gel formula detangles hair, so you can concentrate on removing lice, eggs and nits, instead of fighting to get the lice removal comb through the child's hair.
  • Does LiceMD® contain pesticides?
    • No, LiceMD® is a pesticide-free treatment. It is hypoallergenic; does not contain dyes, perfumes or harsh chemicals; is safe for all household members; and can be reapplied as needed. Consult a physician before using the product on children under the age of two.
  • Is there an expiration date for LiceMD®?
    • No, LiceMD® has no expiration date, but the product should always be stored at room temperature for maximum effectiveness.
  • Will LiceMD® damage my child's hair?
    • No, LiceMD® contains dimethicone which will actually condition hair leaving it soft and silky and easy to manage. Dimethicone is found in many top-selling conditioning shampoos and has a well-known safety profile.
  • Does it smell?
    • No, LiceMD® is completely odorless.
  • How much does LiceMD® cost?
    • A 4 oz. container of LiceMD® and the 100% effective head lice removal comb are sold for a suggested retail price of $14.49.
  • Where is LiceMD® sold?
    • LiceMD® is available over-the-counter at food, drug and mass retail outlets such as Wal-Mart, Rite Aid and Duane Reade.
  • Does LiceMD® require a prescription?
    • No, LiceMD® is sold over-the-counter and does not require a prescription.
  • How much is in a container?
    • Each container of LiceMD® contains 4 fluid ounces (118 ml) of the product and can typically be used for one to three people depending on the length of hair.
  • How much of the product is required to successfully eliminate lice?
    • For short hair use 1-2 oz. of the product, for medium length hair use approximately 2-3 oz. and for long hair use about 3-4 oz. of product.
  • How long does LiceMD® take to eliminate lice?
    • LiceMD® eradicates lice in 10 minutes. On average the comb-out phase takes one to two hours but will vary based on hair texture and length. The hair and scalp should also be inspected each day for 10 days after LiceMD® is applied.
  • Does LiceMD® come in varying sizes?
    • LiceMD® is only available in a 4 oz. container which is sufficient to treat two children with medium length hair.
  • What happens if LiceMD® gets into the eyes?
    • As with all head lice treatments, avoid contact with the eyes. If contact occurs, simply rinse out with water.
  • Will it work on adults?
    • Yes, LiceMD® is clinically proven to eliminate head lice for people of all ages.
  • Why is it important for me to use LiceMD® on dry hair?
    • It is important to use LiceMD® on dry hair so it is easy to tell when the product is thoroughly soaked into the hair.
  • How do I comb the lice out of my child's hair?
    • Take small ½ to 1-inch sections of hair in your fingers, then run the patented LiceMD® comb through the hair starting as close to the scalp as possible. Wipe off excess liquid gel, lice, eggs, and nits from the comb onto a paper towel or tissue. Pin sections of hair up once completed. LiceMD® gel is very slippery.   • Can I use LiceMD® on my infant's hair?
    • Please consult a physician before using the product on children under the age of two.
  • Can I use LiceMD® for pubic or body lice?
    • LiceMD® has been tested and proven effective for head lice. Head lice only live on the scalp and cannot spread to other parts of the body. If you suspect you have pubic or body lice, consult a healthcare professional or a pharmacist.
  • What storage temperature is recommended for LiceMD®?
    • Store LiceMD® at room temperature.
